Marun Petrochimical Co

Marun Petrochemical Co. was founded to bring into operation the seventh olefin on 21 January 1999. Operationalization of this plan with the production capacity of 1.1 million tons of polyethylene per year, setting us among the largest olefin producers, made it possible to convert C2+ (ethane), extracted from natural gas, into polymeric and chemical products through olefinic processes for the first time in the country.

Marun Petrochemical Co. is constructed on a piece of land with a surface area of 102.5 hectares in two regions. .

1. Krit Camp in Ahvaz
The marketing department for ethane is constructed on a piece of land with a surface area of 9.5 hectares in 15th kilometer of Ahvaz-Mahshahr Road. Food of olefin is produced in this unit and then is transferred to the special economic zone through a 95-kilometer pipeline.

2. Special Economic Zone
The olefin unit together with other units of heavy polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene oxide, and ethylene glycol, and other side services and offsite is constructed on a piece of land with a surface area of 93 hectares in site No. 2 in Special Economic Zone in Bandar-e Imam Khomeini. Marun Petrochemical Co. was established on 21 January 1999, came into operation in 2007, and transferred to private sector in 2009. Marun Petrochemical Co., via having ethane recovery factory, produces chemical and polymeric products by recovering ethane from natural gas. Marun Petrochemical Co. has the production capacity of 1,100,000 tons ethylene, 200,000 tons of propylene, 300,000 tons of heavy polyethylene, 300,000 tons of polypropylene, and more than 443,000 various types of glycol which has made this company one of the greatest petrochemical companies in Iran and around the world.
